Meet Boroondara’s Environmental Planning team

The City of Boroondara has a specialist team who not only implement environmental programs and projects for Council and the community, but ensure that ‘green’ thinking is part of its daily working life. This team of ‘green’ thinkers works at all levels of the organisation to inspire others on how they can make a difference to environmental sustainability.

The team says…

Through working with staff across the organisation, there have been savings in water, paper, power and fuel in Council operations and this has reduced the extent of Council’s greenhouse gas emissions.

We can make a real difference at a grass roots level by getting to know people in our community and helping them to live more sustainably.

It’s very rewarding when someone at a community event tells us they have saved energy by installing low energy globes or that they are recycling more and using a smaller household waste bin.

We love the freedom to be innovative, as with our recent Green Threads Sustainable Fashion Show, held to raise awareness for staff on World Environment Day.

Council is right behind us on everything we do. Our Council CEO, Catherine Dale, was the first to reply to our Green Threads Sustainable Fashion Show invitation, and she was one of the judges on the day. Boroondara Council is a very friendly, sharing place and very supportive of everything we do.

Networking and cooperation is the key because, when it comes to the environment, we are all on the same side.
