Castlemaine Diggings National
Heritage Park

Australia’s first national heritage park highlighted by Box-ironbark vegetation and authentic gold mining relics. The authenticity of this gold mining site captures the true essence of the gold rush boom.

Castlemaine Botanical Gardens

The delightful gardens were well established by 1860 and are now on the Victorian Heritage Register. They are currently undergoing a $2.5 million refurbishment.

Vaughan Springs

The mineral springs were first found by the alluvial miners who discovered gold in the area in 1853. The tree lined river is a tranquil and peaceful place.

Mount Alexander Regional Park

The park is made up of 1,240 hectares of forest on a large granite intrusion and offers panoramic vistas.

Castlemaine Art Gallery
and Historical Museum

Founded in 1913, the gallery reflects the richness of local artistic talent and culture and has a superb art deco facade.

Buda Historic Home and Garden

This magnificent home of an early Hungarian family is surrounded by one of the most important large 19th century suburban gardens surviving in Victoria.

Castlemaine Market Building
