Studying law at ANU College of Law*

Legal knowledge is one of many tools that can be used to help to make a difference in people’s lives. It helps professionals to understand the way that activities are regulated and the way that governments manage public affairs and is a sound basis for any number of different careers.

The ANU College of Law offers a wide range of graduate coursework programs open to non law and law graduates, a Juris Doctor (JD) program for non law graduates, that qualifies graduates for admission to legal practice, and a higher degree research program (PhD, MPhil and SJD).

You will have opportunities to learn from and work with outstanding academics. You will have experiences with an internationally recognised law school that provides an academically thriving environment for all students. The ANU College of Law’s innovative and flexible teaching can provide you with options to suit your work or family commitments.

Law, Governance and Development

This is for development practitioners working in all aspects of law, governance and development in the Asia Pacific as well as those working in a context of international institutions.

Government and Commercial Law

This is a program that offers a wide range of courses in areas as diverse as Occupational Health and Safety Law, Dispute Management, Comparative Constitutional Law, Law of Corporate Governance, Media and Communications Law and Government Contracts.

Environmental Law

Offers new courses in Commonwealth Environmental Law, Australian Disaster Law and Environmental Protection and Human Rights alongside established courses such as International Climate Law and Marine and Coastal Law.

International Law

Offers a wide variety of specialised courses, enabling students to concentrate, if they so wish, on particular aspects of public international law, such as for example human rights issues, use of force and international security, international trade or international protection of the environment.
