Hastings Council is proud to be hosting the 1997 Local Government Association Annual Conference at the magnificent Port Macquarie RSL Club. I extend a warm welcome to all those attending the Conference at which many vital Local Government issues will be addressed.

Council strives to continually improve our performance by forging a strong partnership with our community and enthusiastically embracing the change process which has swept Local Government during the 1990s.

We hope that the enthusiasm of the Hastings community inspires the Conference so that, as an industry, we can surf the waves of change together and move forward positively. Having been closely associated with the Conference organisation, I am confident that participants will find the hospitality, facilities and surrounding environment unsurpassed. Hastings Council and our whole community offer you all a very warm welcome.
