Bass Coast Care finalists in State award

Bass Coast Council’s home care team is a finalist in 2000 Victorian Training Awards under the category ‘Employer of the Year – Public Enterprise Award’.

To be eligible, the organisation or enterprise must have demonstrated excellence in the provision of training programs for its employees.

As a semi finalist, the home care team was up against seven other organisations across the state, before being short listed to one of the final three.

These three finalists are Bass Coast Care, the Department of Justice, and Air Services Victoria (formerly the Department of Civil Aviation). These finalists, along with finalists in other categories, will attend a reception at Government House on 8 September, when the winner will be announced.

The winner of this award will go on to represent Victoria in the National Training Awards.

Nominees were required to make a written application describing the training programs undertaken in the organisation. They are judged on how well they addressed the questions, which formed the application and how much of a commitment the organisation made to training and education.

Last year’s winner was Manningham Council.

As a finalist, the Bass Coast Care staff received a site visit by a panel of judges. They were assessed on their Occupational Health & Safety management, Induction Program for new staff and team morale.

As a small rural Council, Bass Coast believes being selected as a state finalist is a great achievement.
