Commonwealth Assistance Guide launched at ALGA

The Minister for Regional Services, Territories and Local Government, Senator Ian Macdonald, launched the new edition of Commonwealth Assistance for Local Projects (CALP) at the ALGA General Assembly in Canberra on 5 December.

The booklet is an up to date guide to Federal Government programmes designed to assist councils and communities.

The publication has proven to be a valuable resource for all people wanting to access information on the diverse range of assistance available from the Federal Government.

Copies of CALP have been distributed to all councils so they can use the guide to identify Federal programmes that may be relevant to them and their communities.

CALP is one of the series of publications designed to provide easy access to information on programmes across the whole range of government departments and agencies.

The Rural Book is a more comprehensive guide to rural and regional programmes and services for groups and individuals.

Also at the ALGA General Assembly, Senator Macdonald launched a Guide to Leading Practice which was sent to all councils following the Minister’s announcement of the National winners of the 2000 National Awards for Innovation in Local Government.

The Guide details all the entries submitted in the Awards and can be used by councils to address some of the challenges they face in their own communities.

An electronic copy of CALP, the Rural Book and Guide to Leading Practice is available at the NOLG website at www.nolg.gov.au

A printed copy of publications is available by calling COUNTRYLINK Australia on 1800 026 222.
