SULO Leads the way in MGB recycling

DON’T DUMP IT, YOUR OLD MGB IS VALUABLE

Sulo MGB Australia P/L has for many years led the Australian market in the manufacturing and marketing of Mobile Garbage Bins (MGBs) in both quality and innovation. After all, it was Sulo who invented the MGB and Sulo that bought the MGB to Australia in 1983.

Sulo has now ‘closed the loop’ in the making of the MGB, through the addition of a new Sulo operation dedicated to the recycling of plastic containers and turning them into new MGBs. Whilst the technology involved is not new, the ‘closed loop’ approach of Sulo is a first for the Australian market.

Through this new operation, based in Carole Park, Brisbane, Sulo will be able to offer their customers a complete service from beginning to end of the MGB life cycle. No more will old broken bins need to be sent to a landfill site. Besides being unfriendly to the environment and taking up a lot of space in landfill, the material can be better utilised by being reprocessed into a new MGB.

There are real economic and environmental gains to be enjoyed by all stakeholders in the waste industry and the community. Many councils have for years been requesting the use of recycled plastics in the making of MGBs, and for the most part this has been achieved only in low ratios by using reprocessed milk bottle containers taken from the recycling stream.

The collection of old MGBs from the waste stream will also mean less waste to landfill via the establishment of a true market for the recycled product. This material will be re-used in the manufacturing of an Australian made MGB that meets the same standard tests as for the current made products.

Sulo has already commenced this program with bins from council areas in Ipswich, Gold Coast, Concord and Blacktown being reprocessed at the facility this month.

Further MGBs are being collected in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney for reprocessing over the next few months, via a portable grinding machine that is close to completion. This addition to the Sulo Recycling Services business will enable Sulo to collect and regrind the old MGBs on site and transport back to the facility for further re-processing.

Sulo has ‘closed the loop’ with the manufacture of the MGB through the establishment of this new re-processing facility. For further details or to arrange for the buy back of your old and damaged bins, contact a Sulo office on 1300 364 388 or www.sulo.com.au
