The gateway to WA’s Great Southern Region

Steeped in history, set in scenic rolling countryside and centred around a beautiful freshwater spring, Kojonup is more than just a gateway to Western Australia’s Great Southern Region.

The Shire of Kojonup is located on Highway 95, the direct route that runs south east from Perth to the historic port of Albany. Some 256 kilometres from Perth and 160 kilometres from Albany, Kojonup township straddles the Albany Highway.

Regular Westrail buses run from Perth to Albany, and there is an airstrip just outside the town centre.

Covering 2,937 square kilometres, Kojonup Shire has a population of 2,314 with 1,290 living in the township.

Kojonup’s history goes back countless centuries, when Aborigines were drawn to the area by the abundance of game and the fresh water spring.

The Shire is well equipped with sporting facilities, including squash, bowls, swimming, tennis, polo, cricket and hockey.

Tourist attractions include the Military Barracks and Museum, The Spring, emu farm, harness display and the tourist railway.

Kojonup is the ideal place to relax and enjoy peace and tranquillity. Beautiful countryside lush with wildflowers and alive with wildlife, is Kojonup.
