CivEnEx moves to Homebush Bay

Australia’s biggest and best show for the Public Works, Construction and Engineering Industries has a new permanent venue for 2002 and beyond. CivEnEx 2002 will be held at the Sydney Showground at Homebush Bay in Sydney’s inner west.

“We are pleased to have secured a long term partnership with the Royal Agricultural Society to ensure CivEnEx has a permanent home,” said CivEnEx Chairperson, Lew Oldfield, Director Works and Services at Cessnock City Council.

Being held on Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 May 2002, the new all weather site has undercover and outdoor exhibit areas. Exhibitors and visitors will be impressed with the access and amenities the new venue provides.

“With 35,000 squares metres, we are working on having between 300 and 400 exhibitors,” Lew Oldfield said. “After visiting Bauma in Germany, which stages the biggest show in Europe every three years, we believe CinEnEx is on track to take up a similar role for the southern hemisphere.”

Leading into the Expo, on Tuesday 14 May, the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia will host the inaugural ‘Public Works Infrastructure Forum’. Delegates will hear from government representatives and industry speakers on current issues facing the public works and construction industries, as well as the most up to date trends in planning, financing and delivery of a range of public works infrastructure. Over 20 market segments and 70 product categories will be represented at CivEnEx 2002 covering the following.

  • Construction and road building equipment
  • Trucks, trailers and loading equipment
  • Cranes and elevated work platforms
  • Crushing, screening and mining
  • Turf care, landscaping and outdoor design
  • Environmental technology and water treatment
  • Street furniture and playground equipment
  • Arbor equipment, chippers and saws
  • Safety clothing and equipment.

“We are also planning to run a number of workshops in conjunction with the Expo,” Lew Oldfield said. “Covering operational areas these will include areas such as compaction, asphalting, traffic and work site management,”
