Online GST manual for Local Government *

LexisNexis Butterworths, in conjunction with Sydney firm Gadens Accounting, are releasing a new online manual specifically dealing with GST for Local Government. This will be the first comprehensive work of this kind for Local Governments.

The launch of Tax Essentials for Local Government will be at the Local Government Managers Australia Finance conference at the Novotel Homebush from 26-28 May 2002. Delegates will be given the opportunity to view the new reporter online at the conference.

Extensive market research revealed that there were still significant issues surrounding GST and Local Government and there was a need for a widely available manual of this kind for staff to quickly resolve problems. Subscribers to the manual also receive a regular bulletin via email that discusses the latest developments.

The manual also addresses the problem that most of the GST knowledge in Councils was held by the finance section. Research showed that this knowledge needed to be readily accessible to a wide range of Council staff.

This manual will reduce the number of routine enquiries faced by finance staff and allow them to deal with the more difficult questions. It is designed to enable staff from different areas of Council to quickly determine the GST issues facing them. It provides both a general overview and more in depth analysis of topical areas.

For further information on the new reporter, call LexisNexis Butterworths on 1800 100 161.
