IT2002 another huge success

This is the fifth year that Coffs Harbour City Council has staged this major IT event on the Local Government calendar. Running from 20 to 22 November, delegates came from all States and Territories plus New Zealand and Vanuatu.

“With 180 delegates and 25 trade exhibitors – the maximum we can take – it was another huge success,” said Adam Young, Coffs Harbour’s Information Services Officer and Conference Organiser. “We have already started planning for IT2003.”

In keeping with the conference theme, ‘Navigating a Secure Course’, keynote speaker was solo yachtsman, Tony Mowbray, who spoke on the power of commitment. Involved in the ill fated 1998 Sydney to Hobart, he then took up the challenge of his solo round the world venture.

“Various IT suppliers forming syndicated partnerships to deliver Local Government solutions was a strong element in this year’s Conference,” Adam Young said. “Telstra with its community portal products, Business Entry Point forming partnerships with Local Government to provide content for their websites, plus a range of best practice presentations from Councils across Australia, ensured a high quality event.”
