Workplace 2003

The vision of Workplace 2003 is to facilitate learning, inspiration, and solutions that create a positive and successful work environment. This conference is designed to assist this process and equip delegates with the necessary tools to face ongoing changes in the workplace environment. The Conference will highlight employers’ duty of care to employees, with particular emphasis on employers’ obligations under the recently revised Occupational Health and Safety legislation.

The development of effective OH&S safety systems will be discussed by award winning Marrickville Council and private industry representatives. The Conference will also tackle important issues such as preventing sexual harassment and bullying in the workplace; how to ensure that the best person is selected and recruited; the business benefits from advancing women; and the essential components of a workplace program to achieve all of the above.

To achieve their goals, organisations need to retain their staff members. This requires effective management of complaints and conflicts, and the development of positive team dynamics. Unlawful dismissal and the steps employers must take prior to dismissing an employee will be analysed.

Speakers will include representatives from Marrickville Council, Rockdale Council, the National Recruitment Group, Norco Cooperative Ltd, Michell Sillar, the Anti-Discrimination Board, and Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (EOWWA). Keynote speaker is Robyn Pulman of Creating Winning Habits.

The Conference will be held at the Pacific Bay Resort in Coffs Harbour from 5 to 6 June 2003. A registration brochure containing the Conference program and speakers will be forwarded to NSW local Councils. If you do not receive a registration brochure a copy can be downloaded from www.chcc.nsw.gov.au/wp2003.
