Lower fleet maintenance

After the initial installation of Filter Technology’s in line diesel filtration systems at Lake Macquarie City Council, a comprehensive 18 month cost benefit analysis was completed.

The results included the following:

  • improvement in fuel economy by one per cent saving 15,000 litres per annum
  • extending manufacture filters life from three to 12 months saving $10,950 across the diesel fleet
  • reduction of 70 per cent in landfill of used elements
  • greenhouse emissions reduced by 40 tonnes per annum
  • infield breakdowns reduced from 70 – 80 per annum to zero.

The cost to install the inline filtration system to each diesel bowser was recovered in four months. The overall savings for year one were $13,500 and for year two $19,450. With these savings to be achieved, numerous Local Governments are seeking to implement the system.

As acknowledgement for Filter Technology’s contribution to reducing greenhouse gases and landfill, they recently took out the award for the Newcastle Environmental Achievement Awards Environmental Products Division.

In addition Filter Technology is currently part of the first official Bio Diesel testing, taking place at Newcastle City Council, with official emission results to be released early in 2004. Initial fuel quality testing indicates a reduction in particulate contamination by up to 80 per cent on standard diesel and 87 per cent on Bio Diesel after the installation of Filter Technology systems.

Filter Technology Australia offers filtration systems for either oil or fuel, with flexibility in system design allowing the installation of systems that suit the full spectrum of plant and equipment sizes.
