Business Entry Point

Business Entry Point (www.business.gov.au) has now been in the market place for over five years, providing Australian small businesses and other interested parties with online access to information about a wide range of government related activities relevant to starting and running a business. It is of use to local councils in many ways, either directly, providing information on taxation; employment; e-business; importing and exporting; fair trading and so forth; but also for a range of other activities which can support business, especially small businesses, to be successful.

The BEP site has a feature called Transaction Manager, a web based tool that allows businesses, including the business sectors of councils, to discover, manage and complete government applications and forms, many of these online. Over 4,000 government transactions are registered with Transaction Manager across all three levels of government.

To ensure that small businesses have easy access to government information and services, the BEP has developed the Content Syndication project that streams selected content to a variety of web sites that businesses visit regularly. In this way BEP creates a synergy between government and business intermediaries that ultimately results in small business operators having access to a more valuable and complete service.

All of the BEP’s services are free. For further information contact Jason Scott at the BEP on (02) 6276 1386.
