Business Centre develops home based business network

Greater Shepparton City Council’s Business Centre is launching a Home Based Business Network and is seeking business people who operate from home to be a part of the network.

Deputy Mayor, Councillor Kevin Ryan, said the network will provide a valuable opportunity for people who may feel isolated in operating their business from home.

“The Home Based Business Network will provide easy access to information and tips for operating a home based business, as well as training and workshops relevant to such business operators,” he said. “There will be the opportunity to connect with others who have similar business circumstances and share the knowledge gained from their experiences.”

Dale Thompson, who operates event management company Australian Wine and Food, enjoyed the comfort of a rented office at the Greater Shepparton Business Centre while his home based business was renovated. Now that he has returned home, Dale plans on using the network to keep up to date with the latest information on home based business.

He said he is now looking forward to the opportunity of establishing relationships with other people who operate their business under similar circumstances.

“The network will give me the chance to get to know others, as well as understand how they operate their businesses,” he said “I hope that I will be able to share my experience in operating a home based business, and gain advice to further enhance my own business.”

The Home Based Business Network is being established with $20,000 support from the State Government’s StreetLife program, and equal funding from the Greater Shepparton City Council.
