The City of Cockburn in Western Australia is certainly setting the pace in human resources management. The City of Cockburn’s Human Resource Service entered the Best HR Team competition conducted by Human Resources magazine and was eventually short listed as a finalist in that category. This is a nationwide premier award within the Human Resources profession and the awards are not just for Local Government organisations.
The City of Cockburn team was short listed against of Australia’s biggest organisations such as Fuji Xerox, HBA Health Insurance and St George Bank, the ultimate winners in this category.
Mayor Stephen Lee congratulated the team on its fine achievement “The HR Team of the City of Cockburn has demonstrated clarity of commitment to their overall vision,” he said. “They are concise in their operational goals and show a justifiable pride in their achievements.
“The team sees HR as more than a function, process and procedure, but as a relationship that acts as the glue of a successful system. This enables the City of Cockburn to build, nurture and manage the multitude of complex and various interactions within the organisation. The City’s HR team strives for excellence, acts ambitiously, harnesses the talents within the organisation to achieve goals and is focused on an outcome orientation.”
