Saferoads 2006 – Moving towards a safe system*

In September 2006, Victoria’s most influential road safety stakeholders, practitioners and decision makers will converge on Melbourne to take part in the biennial Saferoads Conference. To be staged on 7-8 September, the venue will be the Carlton Crest Hotel, Melbourne.

Saferoads is a partnership between LGPro, MAV, VicRoads, Victoria Police, TAC and RACV to work with Local Government to improve the safety of road users.

This year’s event features a line up of outstanding speakers including General Peter Cosgrove and renowned journalist, Phillip Adams. Saferoads 2006 will provide an increased understanding of the Safe System to road safety, clarification of the roles and responsibilities of road safety stakeholders and decision makers under the Safe System, an overview of current best practice in road safety, nationally and internationally, identification of current and future road safety challenges in Victoria, and network development opportunities with key road safety stakeholders.

Are you interested in presenting at the conference? The call for conference papers is now open for those who want to share information on the latest initiatives, trends, achievements and future priorities in road safety.

The deadline for abstracts is 30 June, notification if accepted is 14 July and the full paper is due on 7 August.

A range of packages are available so register now. Early bird registration closes Monday 31 July 2006. Visit www.saferoardsconference.com or telephone (03) 9905 1344.
