Caloundra residents can enjoy their unique natural environment while staying healthy with the recent release of a guide detailing the City’s many bikeways, pathways and parks.
Walk, Cycle, Play! is a pocket size booklet designed to inform both tourists and locals on the best places for outdoor recreation. By promoting the 350 kilometres of pathways and 36,000 hectares of parkland that the area has to offer, Council aims to encourage healthier lifestyle choices. The guide contains 18 maps of various areas throughout the region, with amenities such as barbecues, bicycle racks and playgrounds highlighted. Tips are also provided to ensure visitors interact safely with the outdoor environment.
Caloundra City Council decided to produce the booklet after consultation with community groups and tourism operators.
The booklet maps an amazingly diverse range of natural environments, from the famed beaches of the Queensland coast to the majestic beauty of the Glasshouse Mountains National Park.
Twelve thousand copies of the handbook have been printed and are being distributed through the Council’s customer service centre, visitor information centres and libraries. It can also be found online at www.caloundra.qld.gov.au
