Ci property and rating solution*

TechnologyOne has launched its new generation Property and Rating solution for Local Government on its Connected Intelligence (Ci) platform.

Six new customers have signed contracts to implement the new release of this solution, including Glenorchy City Council, Warringah Council and New Plymouth District Council.

The new Ci version of TechnologyOne’s Property and Rating solution represents the company’s ongoing commitment to evolve its solutions to maintain pace with technological advancements and ensure continuing support of customers’ increasing needs to satisfy new legislative and market requirements. All TechnologyOne customers have the option of six monthly upgrades across the company’s enterprise suite of solutions including Financials, HR/Payroll, Business Intelligence, Supply Chain, Works and Assets, and Performance Planning applications.

Unique to the market, the new Ci Property and Rating solution recognises employee roles and workplaces, with the individual user’s experience customised to suit their particular information requirements. The Property and Rating solution is designed to maximise organisational resources by simplifying and streamlining business processes, allowing Councils to invest time where it’s most valuable.

Based on service orientated architecture on the .NET platform, the Ci technology platform supports the latest in web services technology to connect disparate systems. The Ci platform also enables Councils to swiftly and automatically implement TechnologyOne Property and Rating across their organisation. The solution can also be seamlessly deployed to the wider community, promoting community interaction with Councils via the web and a range of purpose built eServices. This provides an avenue for Councils to meet the rapidly changing needs of the new self service, customer centric government model.

Rather than develop the underlying technology for its solutions, TechnologyOne remains flexible by harnessing the best industry standard technology on the market. This enables the company to evolve its solutions as technological advances occur, replacing ‘older technology’ with ‘newer and more effective’ technology.

Some vendors are wedded to their single platform, which can create limitations for product development. TechnologyOne’s Property and Rating and its other enterprise solutions are available as standalone implementations or as part of a hosted or shared service, providing an accessible solution for Councils, large and small.

TechnologyOne is working with the Local Government Association of Queensland to roll this solution out under the banner of LGONE. The hosted model enables smaller Councils to share a solution, making it more affordable while reducing their administration overheads.

Moving towards eGovernment

Your online future

Local councils are facing the challenge of meeting the rapidly changing needs of their community.

Local residents and businesses are increasingly demanding 24/7 service and increased flexibility in the way they communicate with their Council. This is therefore driving the shift towards the new self service, customer centric government model.

As Councils look at ways to meet these demands, online services will continue to play a large part in their opening up communication channels to better serve their community.

The future looks set for Councils to go the way of the banking sector’s shift towards heavy reliance upon online services.

As people become more comfortable and familiar with interacting with their Councils online, so too should Councils offer more online services and continue to realise the benefits of these streamlined interactions. For Councils, this can mean a direct benefit from decreased administration costs through simplified and streamlined business processes and increased efficiency of departments.

For local residents and businesses, especially those who are geographically remote, the ability to complete transactions online, such as permit applications and payment of rates notices at a time that is convenient for them will continue to be of benefit.

However, until now, the uptake of eGovernment services, particularly in the Local Government sector has been relatively slow. This can mainly be attributed to uncertainty around change, a lack of confidence in supporting data, competing day to day issues and the availability to access and share data between different IT systems.

TechnologyOne, through its Local Government Enterprise Suite, provides a raft of online solutions to its Local Government customers. It calls these its eProperty Solutions, which deliver seamless online communication between Councils their communities and various industry reporting bodies.

As a national supplier of enterprise wide solutions to government, TechnologyOne recently participated in projects funded by the Australian Government’s Regulation Reduction Incentive Fund (RRIF). The RRIF provided funding for online initiatives with an aim to reduce the manual handling of information between Local Government, its communities and other levels of government.

The outcome of both the TechnologyOne initiatives, and the RRIF in general, has continued to make the uptake of online government services more accessible and visible to the public, as well as promoting the start up of online initiatives in a growing number of Local Government authorities.
