StepOne Community Harmony workshop in Melbourne

Victorian Local Government officers working in the areas of multicultural policy, community cohesion and anti racism are invited to a free practitioners’ workshop on a new innovative online toolkit promoting Local Government community harmony initiatives.

StepOne: An On-line Community Harmony Guide for Local Government (www.stepone.org.au) has been developed
by the Centre for Research on Social Inclusion at Macquarie University.  

The purpose of the website is to assist local Councils implement community harmony initiatives in their local communities.  Its main feature is a collection of downloadable best practice case studies of Local Government projects and interventions aimed at fostering community harmony and community cohesion in multicultural neighbourhoods. Many of the case studies focus on initiatives that promote positive relationships between different cultural and ethnic groups in local communities.

The workshop on Friday 18 April will be presented by Dr Jan Ali. It will run from 1.30pm to 3.30pm at the Municipal Association of Victoria offices, Level 12, 60 Collins Street Melbourne. To register email reception@mav.asn.au
