Climate change – the challenge

Murray Darling Association 64th
National Conference and AGM

The Murray Darling Association invites you to take part in its 64th National Conference and Annual General Meeting. To be staged from Wednesday 27 August to Saturday 30 August 2008 at Leeton in New South Wales, this national event aims to provide a platform for discussion between Local Governments, industry providers, land owners and individuals with a concern for the Murray-Darling Basin.

This year’s theme ‘Climate Change – The Challenge’ will allow participants to explore the current basin wide situation and offer solutions for more effective management of its natural resources.

Opening with a Civic Reception hosted by Leeton Shire Council on the evening of 27 August, the conference will include presentations by a variety of speakers including:

  • Dr Wendy Craik, Murray

  • Professor Gary Jones,
    Australian National

    Task Force for Precipitation
    Enhancement Research
  • John Searson, Murrumbidgee
    Catchment Management
    Authority.

The conference also offers a partner’s tour and will conclude with the official dinner. The post conference tour on 30 August will give participants an opportunity to view first hand the Barren Box Swamp wetlands initiative and other resource and landscape features of the region.
