Green is the new black

World Environment Day was celebrated in style this year when Council staff held a ‘green’ fashion parade of recycled and ethically produced clothing and accessories. The event was proudly presented by Boroondara’s Living for Our Future @ Council to highlight the environmental impact of sustainable consumption, particularly in the fashion industry and clothing production.

The audience at the Green Threads Sustainable Fashion Parade on 5 June were given tips on how to consume responsibly by choosing quality over quantity, swapping or re-working old clothes, buying second hand, supporting local businesses and charities, or choosing environmentally sustainable fabrics such as bamboo, hemp, linen and organic cotton.
