Knox manager honoured for leadership

Knox City Council’s Manager of Strategic and Economic Development, Kim Rawlings recently took out the inaugural ‘Sally Isaac Women in Local Government Leadership Award’ at this year’s LGPro awards.

Kim is the inaugural winner of the prestigious award, which is now considered as the LGPro’s top honour acknowledging young, female leaders in the sector.

The award was created in memory of Sally Isaac, an outstanding leader in the sector who passed away earlier this year after a battle with cancer.

It is given to women leaders in Local Government aged under 35 who show vision, wisdom, empathy and outstanding leadership qualities beyond their years.

In her role at Knox Council, Kim Rawlings has a lead role in implementing Council’s Economic Development Strategy and guiding the strategic planning of its place management projects.

“It is really humbling to be honoured by my peers and I am thrilled to have won this award,” Kim said.

“Working in Local Government is about people, the community and working to provide better places to live and work. “In my role at Knox City Council, I get to do this on a daily basis. That affects the lives of individuals, families, businesses and the whole community.

“Whether they are a desk away, or in one of our many locations, our Council teams are supporting and serving people, and providing better services and assets every day.”

Knox’s Manager of People Performance Mary-Anne Palatsides was also a finalist in the Sally Isaac award.

Acting Chief Executive Officer Ian Bell said this impressive outcome is a nod to the depth of Knox Council’s talent.

“We’ve got a tremendous skills base and some incredibly high achievers at Knox Council,” he said.

“We are very lucky to have such talented, committed people and the real winner is the Knox community.”
