Launceston tool kit assists event organisers

Launceston City Council has unveiled a new Event Tool Kit to assist organisers at all levels of experience to plan and stage a successful event. The kit is one of many initiatives Council has implemented to develop and support a dynamic calendar of events for residents and visitors to the city.

It is designed to streamline the event organising process and is relevant to all events from school fairs to major food and wine festivals. It includes information about planning, budgeting, risk assessment and management, fundraising and public safety.

A workshop outlining the Event Tool Kit and how to use it was held in November. It featured guest speakers from Council’s building and planning, environmental health and roads departments as well as the Festivale coordinator, Vanessa Cahoon.

Held annually in Launceston on the second weekend of February, Festivale is a celebration of Tasmanian food, wine, beer, arts and entertainment.

“Each year, organisations and individuals stage significant events that contribute to our sense of community and identity, providing residents and visitors with meaningful experiences,” said Launceston Mayor Albert van Zetten. “Our new Event Tool Kit makes it even easier to plan and stage a successful event.

“Our vibrant and diverse calendar of events provides a major economic boost to Launceston with more than 400,000 visitors enjoying the city’s unique attractions each year. Council recognises the importance of attracting and maintaining events in our region and is delighted to offer this new Tool Kit in addition to our Event Sponsorship Program and Community Grants Program to assist organisers.”

The Event Tool Kit is available from Council’s website at www.launceston.tas.gov.au
