SA councils launch ECO ERA website

In September, seven Adelaide councils launched a new website designed to help residents find ways to be more environmentally friendly.

The councils are part of the Eastern Region Alliance (ERA) and include the Cities of Burnside, Campbelltown, Norwood Payneham and St Peters, Prospect, Tea Tree Gully and Unley, as well as the Town of Walkerville.

The ECO ERA – Sustainable Living Guide (www.ecoera.sa.gov.au) is packed with ideas about how residents can make small changes that are good for the environment, their health and their wallet. The website shows people how they can do their bit for the environment in their neighbourhood, where they can buy locally grown food, how they can save water and what they can do to reduce their power bills.

Developed in conjunction with The Natural Strategies Group, the Guide is designed to help residents take action to live more sustainably at home and in the community. A link to the ECO ERA website is available from all of the ERA council websites.

City of Campbelltown Mayor and ERA spokesperson, Simon Brewer, said solutions to global problems can be found in our own homes and neighbourhoods.

“We’re committed to improving the environment in our neighbourhoods and beyond for the long term benefit of the community,” he said. “This website gives our residents the practical information they need to do their bit.”
