Kiama Council’s holiday parks win NSW awards

Nestled in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Kiama Council’s five Holiday Parks recently won a string of awards at the New South Wales Caravan and Camping Industry (CCI) Awards.

Surf Beach Holiday Park won Best 3.5 to 4 Star Property South of Sydney (less than 100 sites), while Seven Mile Beach Holiday Park won Best 3.5 to 4 Star Property South of Sydney (100 sites or more), and the Kiama Harbour Cabins received a commendation in the Best 4.5 to 5 Star holiday park/resort category.

All five Council owned Holiday Parks achieved Silver Gumnut Awards.

The Caravan and Camping Industry Association of NSW (CCIA) Gumnut Awards Program is an environmental initiative that offers a progressive rating scheme for its holiday and tourist park members to achieve.

To obtain their Silver Gumnut Awards, Council’s Holiday Parks had to develop an integrated Environmental Management Plan and satisfy an additional 20 criteria above the ten previously achieved for their Bronze Gumnut Awards.

“Council’s series of wins at the CCI Awards is a brilliant triumph for Council, Holiday Park management and staff, and our community,” said Kiama’s Coordinator Holiday Parks Operations, Marianne Hazell.

“To have taken out two of the top awards, received a commendation for Kiama Harbour Cabins, and have all five Holiday Parks achieve their Silver Gumnut Awards is a huge success.”
