A recent expansion of Shoalhaven City Library Services will provide registered members with the ability to download audiobooks and e-books direct from the library website.
Library members will be able to browse titles on the web before downloading to a PC, Mac or other mobile device immediately.
Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Paul Green said the new service would enable library users to utilise modern technology in their day to day life.
Councillor Green has little doubt that mobile devices like iPods, eReaders and portable tablets are having a major effect on how people choose to receive and access information.
"Shoalhaven Libraries have embraced this shift towards e-technology by taking advantage of this new online borrowing service, providing residents with an immediate, easy to use online borrowing system.
"Library members can log on and download audiobooks and eBooks anywhere, anytime."
Mayor Green said all digital resources will automatically expire at the conclusion of the borrowing period meaning there will be no longer be a need for any late fees.
Some users may need to download free software before downloading available content.
