Supporting Women in Local Government

2010 marked the year of women in local government. This event was dedicated to raising the profile of women and addressing disparities in senior positions.

Indigo Training recognised the need to support women who wished to move into management and offered a fully funded scholarship to undertake a Diploma of Management.

After being inundated with worthy applications, the eventual winner was Lee-anne Graham from the City of Yarra Council. Here is what she had to say about her experience:

“This year I was the lucky recipient of the scholarship supported by Rum Charles and Indigo Training to undertake a Diploma of Management.

The Diploma ran over 10 sessions commencing in April 2011 and running through to October covering 8 subjects. The Diploma has been challenging but very rewarding at the same time.

My Time Management skills were definitely tested in balancing work commitments and getting assessments completed and submitted on time. In saying that, I have thoroughly enjoyed this program and learnt some invaluable skills which will undoubtedly assist me in improving my leadership qualities and long term career aspirations.

I enjoyed it so much I have registered to undertake an additional 3 units with the same facilitator in 2012 which will give me a Dual Diploma.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Rum and the Indigo team for their support in providing me with this fantastic opportunity.”
