Barmera Public Library, run by the Berri Barmera Council in South Australia, is celebrating the National Year of Reading by inviting members of the community to share their stories.
Amor, originally from the Philippines, was a guest storyteller for the children’s holiday activities in April, entertaining over 40 children with a story from her homeland. Amor then showed the kids how to make traditional beads, assisted by friends dressed in traditional Philippine clothing.
Peggy Germein, Team Leader Barmera Library and Council Customer Service Centre, says, "It’s great to see our library bring people of different cultures and ages together to share their stories and to learn from each other.
"We see the National Year of Reading as a wonderful opportunity to promote the great library service provided by the Berri Barmera Council."
