Best practice award for playground

The City of Ryde has received an award at the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) Awards for the successful delivery of the all-inclusive playground Livvi’s Place at Yamble Reserve.

City of Ryde Acting General Manager Roy Newsome said the AIPM NSW (Community Service and Development) Project Management Team Award recognised Ryde Council’s innovation, professionalism and contribution to the community in delivering this high profile and complex project.

“We are very proud to have worked in partnership with Touched by Olivia Foundation bringing together stakeholders from all levels of government, community groups, local business and individuals for the successful completion of this unique project.

“Livvi’s Place at Yamble Reserve is a playground where children of all abilities can come together with their families to enjoy play, friendship and discovery.

“The high level of integrated creative design, including public art, is a benchmark in playground design and its creation has been a boon to our wider community, attracting an estimated 3,000 visitors per week since it opened in February this year.

“This prestigious award reflects the continued hard work and achievements of the Council on behalf of the community.”

Livvi’s Place was delivered by a multi-disciplinary Council project team through the management of complex partnerships, procurement and funding arrangements.

The AIPM Achievement Awards were established to recognise, honour and promote outstanding achievements in project management by the peak national body.  This win, in competition with organisations such as Telstra, Optus and NSW Public Works, places the City of Ryde in line for the National Awards to be announced in October 2013.
