Online enrolment

Nillumbik Shire Council has welcomed a $50,000 grant that will fund an online enrolment and student portal for Living & Learning Nillumbik.

The grant has come from the Hon Nick Wakeling MP, Minister for Higher Education and Skills.

The portals will enable students to access to online support from their trainers and other resources.

“These funds are very welcome as they mean that we can increase access to our learning centres for our more isolated residents,” Said Nillumbik Shire Mayor, Councillor Michael Young.

“It means that we can support more people to participate in local learning and take up opportunities to gain employment.

“I have had the pleasure of attending the graduation ceremonies for our students over recent years and have enjoyed sharing their happiness on achieving their goals.

“I’m really pleased that we are now able to extend this valuable resource in the online space.”

Living & Learning Nillumbik has operated as a Council service for 40 years and over 3,000 people each year have consistently engaged in its courses and activities.

The centre has nationally recognized courses on offer including a Diploma in Children’s Services Certificate III in Children’s Services, Certificate III in Aged Care and Home and Community Care and a Certificate IV Training and Assessment.

Over 2,000 people have gained these qualifications over this time, with 98 percent finding, mainly, local employment in children’s services and aged care services, which has strengthened our local economy.

These local training opportunities have resulted in vast improvements to the lives of many people and to the communities that
they live in.
