Leading leisure centre

LeisureFit Booragoon has received a 100 percent perfect score following its assessment by the Royal Life Saving Society, receiving a Water Safety Centre of Excellence accreditation recognising outstanding safety and lifeguarding systems.

Royal Life Saving Society General Manager Peter Leaversuch said LeisureFit Booragoon had consistently, over a number of years, achieved high scores in pool safety assessments conducted by the Society.

“During the assessment a checklist is completed, containing questions that, in the experience of Royal Life Saving, are relevant.

“A score is assigned to each question, indicating the degree of compliance and in 2014 LeisureFit Booragoon achieved a 100 per cent safety score.

“Here at the Royal Life Saving Society we would like to acknowledge the effort and commitment of the Management and staff at LeisureFit Booragoon in achieving this outstanding result.”

City of Melville Mayor Russell Aubrey said while LeisureFit Booragoon had achieved a perfect score for this assessment, it would not be relaxing its commitment to water safety.

“We are always looking for new ways to keep our community safe.

“Our lifeguards also participate regularly in State Pool Lifeguard Challenges, going above and beyond to test themselves against the best in the State and upgrade their lifesaving skills.

“With the summer months upon us and people spending more time in the water to cool down, it is an important reminder to remain diligent about water safety and to know what to do in the case of an emergency.”
