Council welcomes shared–user pathway funding

Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Joanna Gash has welcomed a funding announcement by Member for South Coast, Shelley Hancock that will allow construction of two shared–user pathways in the south of the City.

The NSW State Government has provided $210,000 to continue the shared–user path on Matron Porter Drive, Mollymook.

A further $62,500 has also been provided to allow the construction of a shared–user pathway on the northern end of St Vincentia Street.

Mayor Gash said that Council was very appreciative of the funding allocations saying the organisation would have been unable to undertake the works without the additional grants.

These grants constitute 50 percent of the total project estimates and as such additional funding will be sought by Council to ensure the projects can be fully completed to the desired lengths.

“I would like to thank the Member for South Coast, Shelley Hancock on the funding announcement that will allow the continuation of two vitally important shared–user paths in the south of the City.

“The funding will allow works to continue on the Matron Porter shared–use path with Council having recently completed Stage 1 of the project.

“Once completed, this pathway will provide a much safer, more accessible and connected cycling and walking link between Mollymook and Milton.

“The additional funding for the pathway on St Vincentia Street will also ensure a safer route for those students that walk to Ulladulla High School on a daily basis.”
