Know Your Council is an easy to understand website to help inform the community about how councils work and what they do.
Hepburn Shire Council CEO Aaron van Egmond said that councils provide a wide range of services to the community and that this website is a great way to see how they are performing.
“All councils are now measured against 66 different indicators which represent services we deliver. This website lets you see how we are performing, including the areas where we are doing well and where we have an opportunity to improve.”
When compared to other councils in the state Mr van Egmond said that Hepburn is performing well in the areas of libraries, maternal and child health participation and planning.
The areas that provide Council with the greatest opportunity to improve performance are swimming pools, animal management and food safety.
“There are areas where we need to improve performance. Pools is one of these key areas and we are already making huge headway here by taking over the management of our pools. We are looking to create a more fun and family friendly environment for our community.
“I will be working with staff to ensure we close the gap in areas where we can improve our performance. This will be partly done through our internal performance reporting system that reports the outcomes of key projects through to Council.”
