Technology is rapidly changing every sphere of our lives, including the way local government can operate.
The Locate16 Conference – to be held 12–14 April at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre – aims to showcase technological innovations and initiatives assisting local councils.
Themed ‘Disruptive Technology for a Smarter Society’, the conference will discuss applications ranging from urban planning to emergency management.
Key speakers include: Manager of Victorian Operations at Uber, Matt Denman; Principal Advisor on Public Data Policy, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Helen Owens; and spatial analyst from the CSIRO, Kerryne Graham.
Major topics on the agenda are geospatial technology, building data infrastructure and utilising the Internet of Things.
The event will feature a Marketplace on 12 April with leading organisations on stage sharing information and insights in brief presentations throughout the day.
The Conference program will be officially opened on 13 April by The Hon Angus Taylor MP and followed by a series of presentations aligned with key stream titles: Build, Prosper, Protect and Sustain.
