Innovation on the agenda at LGPro Victoria conference

The 2016 LGPro Annual Conference and Dinner, held on 25 and 26 February, featured a program centered on local government innovation.

A total of 711 people working across the Victorian Local Government sector attended the event to network and share ideas.

Keynote speaker, current affairs host and author, Stan Grant, received a standing ovation from delegates. Other high profile speakers who presented at the conference were Professor Donna Rose Addis, Tim Lovitt and Dr Helen Szoke.

Interactive sessions and short talks covered topics including democratic innovation, boosting brainpower, and how to move from being reactive to proactive in the digital age.

The program featured a strong emphasis on how local government can adapt to the digital world and remain agile into the future.

The reins were handed over to the 2015 LGPro Emerging Leaders for a presentation that answered the pressing question, ‘We are five years from 2020 – where are we now and are we building the credibility of Local Government?’

The LGPro Young Professionals Network also hosted The Devil’s Advocacy Ideas Marketplace, which featured 10 Chief Executive Officers discussing challenging topics.

Another popular session was the ‘Are you Smarter than a CEO’ quiz, which saw a group of young emerging leaders test their general knowledge against a panel of CEOs.

The annual Awards for Excellence were announced at the conference dinner on Thursday night, featuring winners across nine categories.
