Council lures Pokemon Go users

The City of Logan is adding an extra enticement for people to get down to its Eats and Beats festival this Friday.

The festival, in the municipality south of Brisbane, is already a popular event that boasts a schedule of live entertainment and 25 different food truck vendors.

Now, Pokemon Go users will have all the more reason to attend.

Council is hosting a Pokemon Go walk around the Berrinba Wetlands before the festival officially opens.

City Image Chairperson, Councillor Laurie Smith, said the recent Pokemon craze would add a new dimension to the popular community event.

“Staff have created a Pokemon map of Berrinba Wetlands so people playing the game can discover collectables around the site on the night,” he said.

“Those who have no idea what Pokemon are, and that includes me, don’t need to be playing the game to have fun at Eats and Beats.

“We’ll still have a fantastic selection of food trucks to satisfy almost any craving and some terrific live music from local musicians too.”

A charging kiosk will be available for Pokemon trainers in need of re-charging their devices and Council will also have lures ready to attract Pokemon throughout both events.

“One of the advantages of having Eats and Beats at Berrinba Wetlands is that the site has plenty of free parking for people,” said Cr Smith.

“That said, it’s always good to beat the dinner time rush by getting there early.

“The early bird gets the worm, or in this case, the Pokemon.”
