Yass Valley Council hosted staff from the Nepalese Financial Comptroller General Office today, providing them with an insight into financial risks, sustainability, asset management and revenue management, as well as a background on local government, particularly remote and rural councils.
“Today was a great opportunity to showcase how we operate as a council and provide insight into the risks faced by rural councils in New South Wales,” said Director Finance & Corporate, Sharon Hutch.
“No matter where you are in the world we all face the same or similar risks and opportunities. The challenge facing organisations is how you manage those risks and opportunities.”
Queensland University of Technology (QUT) are hosting the group while they complete a leadership and risk management course. The group hold a variety of positions including, joint comptroller general, financial controller, accounts officer, and work across portfolios including water, agriculture, human services, education and local government.
Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO) is the main government agency responsible for the treasury operation of the Government of Nepal. FCGO is responsible for overseeing all government expenditure against budget, tracking revenue collection and other receipts and preparation of consolidated financial statements of the government.
At the conclusion of the presentation by senior staff the Nepalese touring party visited Yass Dam and Sewerage Treatment Plant.
