In a win-win for council and community, Cessnock City Council in New South Wales is matching funding for community projects dollar-for-dollar.
Local community organisations involved in arts and cultural activities were invited to apply for the Council’s 2017 Community Cultural Development Dollar for Dollar Grants Program.
The grants aim to provide financial assistance for specific cultural projects or to allow for the improvement of facilities within the local government area.
Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent said this is a wonderful opportunity for vital community groups to secure extra support.
“This annual program has supported some exciting initiatives in the past.
“Last year we our successful applicants ranged from the Wollombi Sculpture in the Vineyards to the Cessnock Woodturners Inc. and the Branxton Greta Community Chamber of Commerce Umbrella Festival.”
Grants are provided on a dollar for dollar basis, that is, up to a maximum of 50 per cent of the cost of the project and evidence of sufficient funds to match the grant is required.
Applications can be for an amount up to $3000. $25,000 is available in the funding program and on average is spread across eight to ten projects throughout the calendar year.
Community based organisations outside the area could also apply and be considered based on the project’s benefit to the Cessnock local government area.
