The City of Nedlands ranger team took home top honours at the WA Rangers Association awards.
Named the 2017 Ranger Team of the Year and presented with a perpetual shield, winner’s shield and inscribed clock, it is the second time they have won the award.
City of Nedlands Manager Health and Compliance Andrew Melville, who oversees the ranger team, said the award was thoroughly deserved.
“It’s the culmination of consistent high customer service standards and a strong work ethic in an often difficult role,” he said.
“The ranger team is highly adaptive to change, ensuring best practice work methods are always maintained.
“The ongoing support from City staff and councillors is always appreciated and we thank them for that.
“Nominations were strong this year but the culture within the ranger team has produced team success for many years and continuing this high standard is a credit to everyone.”
City of Nedlands CEO Greg Trevaskis said the ranger team had efficient processes in place and a good rapport with the community.
“Gone are the days when rangers were perceived as the bad guys – in Nedlands, they do much more than just catch stray dogs and strive to be an integral part of the community, taking a pro-active approach to their everyday work,” he said.
“Our rangers go above and beyond their normal areas of responsibilities in order to help people.
“It’s the little things they do that help the community and also make their job more rewarding.
“I am delighted our ranger team has been recognised for their hard work and dedication to the local community, right across the municipality, as they get out and about in the suburbs.”
