Two City of Logan councillors have chipped in to make a popular retail precinct even safer.
Councillors Steve Swenson and Darren Power have each contributed $7000 in divisional funding towards a Kawasaki All-terrain vehicle (ATV).
The ATV will help Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers patrol the carpark of the Logan Hyperdome Shopping Centre and surrounding public spaces.
Hyperdome-owners QIC also provided $7000 towards the cost of the vehicle, which will be used by QPS officers from the Hyperdome Police Beat.
City Lifestyle and Customer Services Committee Chairperson Councillor Steve Swenson said the Loganholme ATV is the latest in a network of vehicles across the city.
“Council has supported the introduction of four ATVs patrolling public spaces and parklands across the City of Logan.
“The ATVs have proved invaluable when it comes to protecting the community by deterring crime and anti-social behaviour and as a community outreach tool.”
“The beauty of the ATV is that it allows QPS officers to access areas they can’t get to with a regular police car,” Councillor Power said.
Another ATV, the city’s fifth, has since been launched at Sturdee Park, Loganlea.
