More park for your bark!

In welcome news for dogs and dog owners across Knox City, Victoria, councillors have endorsed three concept option plans for proposed new dog parks.

This follows an allocation of $20,000 funding by Council in the 2017-18 Annual Budget to investigate and identify additional off-leash areas (dog parks).

Council’s consideration of these sites took into account a variety of factors including access, safety, compatibility of existing reserve uses and provision of additional parkland infrastructure.

Councillor Jackson Taylor said, “This is just paw-some news for the dogs and dog owners of Knox, that Council has identified three sites for proposed new dog parks, including at Wantirna Reserve in Wantirna.

“Dogs are more than pets, they’re family, so this is a great opportunity for Council to provide the facilities that will help nourish our ‘doggos’ physical health and wellbeing.”

Councillor Lisa Cooper said, “People love their dogs and having more opportunities to take them out for a run will not only be good for the dogs, it will be really positive for their owners as well.”
