Another box ticked

Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council, New South Wales, inspected the Truck Wash and Electrical Upgrade Project at the Cootamundra Saleyards last month and declared them open for business.

The final road sealing around the area, and electrical upgrades to the lighting and security systems are in place, whilst the new truck wash facility has been in use for the last month.

The finishing touches were completed just in time for a visit from the Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke who has visited the site several times during construction.

Saleyards Manager, Jeff White, was on hand to explain the recycling systems which captures and diverts all water used at the truck wash for reuse in washing out the sheep yards.

Waste from the area is collected in concrete tanks which can be easily cleaned out.

Rainwater is also collected and is used throughout the systems.

CCTV cameras have been installed along with upgraded lighting across the saleyard precinct.

Mayor, Abb McAlister, said, “As a council we have a lot of projects underway, and this one is another box ticked.

“The facilities at the Cootamundra Saleyards, now see it fit for the future.

“There is always good quality stock coming through these yards, and these facilities will enable the numbers to continue.

Funding for the $330,000 project has come from the federal and state governments and Council. Overall the projects bring the Cootamundra Saleyards in line with other facilities of similar size and have addressed Workplace, Health and Safety, environmental and economic issues.
