A visit from the Minister

A new program supporting small business is being rolled out across New South Wales the Minister for Finance and Small Business, the Hon Damion Tudehope MLC, told Member for Wollondilly Nathaniel Smith and Wollondilly Council representatives in a meeting with local small business operators.

Minister Tudehope addressed the gathering about plans to continue developing the economic prosperity of the State through support of small business and increased services for the community.

He spoke about the importance of small business in the State economy and in the community, as well as some of the programs the State Government is rolling out such as the Easy to Do Business program, a free service that streamlines business application processes via an online portal.

Wollondilly Council was recently recognised for its commitment to the Small Business Friendly Councils initiative and Easy to do Business, which will help people navigate the paperwork involved with setting up a small business in Wollondilly.

The discussions with the small business operators touched on other areas of concern, such as the development approval processes.
Council’s Director Planning, Toni Averay spoke of Council’s plans for improvements through the e-planning process, planning controls around events and the Local Environmental Plan Review.

Council staff also spoke about the need to continue efforts to market Wollondilly as a place to visit, enjoy and take advantage of the variety of small business offerings.

Mayor, Matthew Deeth, said, “This was a great opportunity for local businesses to meet with Council, the Minister and the local member to discuss some of the issues faced by small business. I’d like to thank everyone who took part.”
