Innovative solutions from concept to completion*

Norris Bank Reserve in City of Whittlesea, Victoria, is one of the major open space reserves in an established area of the municipality.

Its 10.3 ha on the north bank of Darebin Creek was selected as one of four existing Regional and Municipal open spaces in established urban areas to be to be further enhanced and developed as a Major Community Park, promoting and encouraging a wider use of open space.

An important aim of the City’s master plan for the reserve was to ‘create an inclusive, accessible reserve that supports and encourages use by people of all ages and abilities’ while ‘protecting and enhancing its distinct existing character’.

The addition of a ‘Changing Places’ public toilet with adult changing facilities was a high priority and vital to Council’s plan for ensuring the park could be enjoyed by everyone.

GR Design and Construct collaborated with Playce Landscape Architects and Whittlesea Council to design, engineer, fabricate and install a custom ‘Changing places’ amenity.
