Fibrelite poolside access covers are a safer approach*

When Auburn City Council in Western Sydney needed to replace its concrete covers, it chose Fibrelite glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) composite covers to withstand the harsh poolside conditions.

The lightweight covers allow access to the air conditioning system and balance tanks for the water located under and around the perimeter of the pools.

Council’s original metal poolside covers had corroded to a dangerous level for the staff that had to remove them and the swimmers walking around the pool area without shoes. Chlorine is corrosive to traditional concrete and metal access covers that are located close to swimming pools, so a better solution was required.

Composite covers like Fibrelite are chemically inert, so do not react to either water or chlorine and remain watertight and safe to walk barefoot on for many years.

They are also lightweight so can be safely and quickly removed by one person using the ergonomically designed lifting handle.

Even though the GRP composite access covers are light, they have the strength of metal. As such, they are growing in popularity for manhole covers, trench covers, and underground enclosures around the world in public areas, stadiums, road and rail infrastructure projects, public works and utilities, ports, airports, data centres, and many more.

Since 1998, Fibrelite covers have been accredited to the ISO quality standard and British Standards Kitemark, and KIWA accredited since 2010.

Fibrelite covers are available in a variety of custom colours. In the case of the poolside covers for Auburn City Council, the covers are a light colour to blend in with the surrounding environment. They will also not crack, delaminate, or fade, even with exposure to the sun and chlorine.

Fibrelite is a global leader in the manufacture and development of highly engineered GRP composite manhole covers, trench covers, steam covers, and underground containment systems.

Fibrelite is distributed in Australia by Liquip International (Liquip), part of the global OPW group. Liquip is a global leader in fluid handling, metering, filtration, and control solutions for the petro-chemical industry.
