Hurstville to install

Hurstville City Council is the first Council in a major city to sign a contract to install ‘CivicView’, a wholly Australian product from Pacific Software in Brisbane. CivicView was specifically written for Local Government and uses state of the art integrated database and interface technology to manage the Council’s applications, regulations, assets and finance systems.

CivicView was developed as a joint venture between Kempsey Shire Council and Insight Informatics of Brisbane. It is a totally integrated software package covering property, financials, rating, payroll/HR, asset management, mapping, purchasing, inventory and customer service.

The sale was finalised in February after an exhaustive selection process by Hurstville City Council, and comprises all modules of the software.

Hurstville Mayor, Councillor Vince Badalati, said that the addition of CivicView will make Hurstville City Council one of the best equipped Councils in Australia.

“The implementation of this new system will restore Hurstville City Council to its position as a leader in Local Government computing,” he said. “The eyes of Local Government are on Hurstville now, to see how the system is integrated and to help them decide whether to take on the product.”

It is expected that most aspects of Council’s functions will be running ‘live’ in CivicView for the new financial year, in July 2003. Other aspects of the system, such as the booking system, full GIS integration and so forth will be dealt with subsequently.
