Supporting Casey’s businesses

The City of Casey’s Business Development Unit has a strong focus on creating the best possible environment for promoting business opportunities and business investment. Recent initiatives include:

  • Establishment of Australia’s first dedicated web site for home based businesses.
  • A partnership with Chisholm Institute to develop a Small Business Virtual Campus online facility – resulting in more than 100 businesses taking up certified courses.
  • Launch of a CD-Rom providing information on services and educational programs offered by Community Learning Centres in Casey in association with Cluster of Adult and Community Education (ACE) providers.
  • Appointment of an Employment and Learning Coordinator to foster links between the education and business sector and the community.
  • Completion of a major audit, funded by Department of Transport and Regional Services, of 4,000 agricultural enterprises in Casey and Cardinia to evaluate the current status of agriculture in the region.
  • Development of a 2004 Industry and Wholesale Guide listing more than 700 businesses located in Casey’s industrial zones.
