Stirling scoops customer service award

Western Australia’s City of Stirling was recently recognised at the 2009 Australian Telecommunications Awards (ATA) as the Western Australian Teleservices Centre of the Year in the under 50 full time employees category.

The ATA Awards are regarded as the pre-eminent awards program in the teleservices industry, identifying top performers and recognising achievement of the highest level.

City of Stirling Mayor, Councillor David Boothman, said that given the number and calibre of entrants, the award is an honour, especially as Stirling was the only Local Government recognised.

He said the award is a true reflection of the ongoing commitment and hard work of the City’s 19 customer contact centre staff.

“Their efforts and dedication are truly deserving of praise and I am very proud of their outstanding achievement,” he said.

In being considered for the award Council’s customer contact centre was assessed against a comprehensive list of grading criteria, including best practice industry principles, customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction, training and development initiatives, physical environment and cultural feel.

Stirling’s customer contact centre is the largest among Western Australian councils and is the City’s leading frontline service, responding to more than 17,000 calls each month.

Council is now in the running for the national Australian Telecommunications Awards, to be announced in Sydney in September 2009.
