Big names making the move to Mildura

Although traditionally considered a hub for horticulture and associated industries, the Mildura region is fast attracting investment and development from a new wave of retailers and commercial businesses.

Looking to capitalise on Mildura’s strategic location between three states, national franchises and retail chains have established themselves in the region.

There are a number of national retailers currently building in the region or investigating Mildura as a location for expansion or development.

Proposals have been received from Coles, Woolworths, Big W and Dan Murphy’s, while established businesses including Davison Ford, Bunnings, and MADEC are expanding their premises and presence within the municipality.

Major development proposals like these present exciting opportunities for the local economy and Mildura Rural City Council has developed a range of detailed strategic plans that guide how land in the municipality is used in the future.

Council has developed strategic plans for major retail sectors including the Mildura CBD Plan, the Fifteenth Street and Deakin Structure Plan, Irymple Structure Plan and most recently the Fifteenth Street Precinct Retail Strategy and Centro Precinct Plan.

In developing these plans and strategies, Council has sought to carefully balance the needs for the region to continue to develop from an economic perspective while maintaining the traditions and requirements of the communities that have lived in the municipality for generations.

The appeal of the Mildura region will no doubt continue to grow as new industries and developments emerge.
